The Cairn Nature Reserve
These are indeed very strange times that we find ourselves in. For us it is sad that we cannot welcome any of our lovely guests into our home due to the current restrictions and that this may be the case for quite some time. But we all need to do our bit to stay at home and help save lives and hopefully it will not be too long before we can all get back to some kind of normality. In the meantime, we are taking the opportunity to do lots of little jobs around the guest house and also get out for our daily ‘exercise’ walk. We are so lucky to have such beautiful walks with the South West Coastal Path and harbour directly on our doorstep.
Having walked the length and breadth of these coastal paths over the last few weeks, we decided on a different walk that we had not done for a couple of years up to Cairn Nature Reserve, an historic woodland on the outskirts of Ilfracombe.
There are different coloured paths that you can take – Red Route (fairly hard), Yellow Route (moderate) and Blue (easy) .. we took the yellow route and wow what a pleasure it was to wander through the canopies of trees with carpets of bluebells – we had quite forgotten how beautiful and enchanting these woodlands are. We shall definitely be going there more regularly now and shall certainly be recommending The Cairn to our guests.
In the meantime do enjoy these beautiful photographs and we sincerely hope that it is not too long before you can all come back and enjoy all that The Collingdale and Ilfracombe has to offer.
Take care all and stay safe and we hope to see you soon.
