ILFRACOMBE EVENTS 2022
After the last two years of no events due to the pandemic, it is so good so see our main events all happening again in Ilfracombe.
We are well into the events for 2022 and below you will find highlights of recent events and details of those planned over the summer:
Ilfracombe Art Trail
Ilfracombe has become quite a destination for artists and art lovers, with so many new galleries opening up we are starting to rival the likes of St Ives and Padstow.
May 2022 marked the sixth Art Trail with over 65 different artists opening their studios in their homes and galleries for visitors and it was an amazing opportunity to follow the trail and visit various artists in their studios.
Jubilee Weekend
Wow what an occasion that was and Ilfracombe really celebrated in style. There were various family orientated events on the Saturday, plus a flypast from the Red Arrows then on Sunday 5th June, virtually the whole town turned out to take part in a ‘living’ photo on Capstone hill to mark E-R 2022. (If you look carefully you may see me in the second 2 LOL). Each jubilee Ilfracombe has marked the occasion with a similar photo.
After the photo, Ilfracombe held its ‘street party’ on Fore Street, with trestle tables full of food and live entertainment from local musicians outside the George & Dragon and Prince of Wales. Sadly torrential rain came in at 3pm so we had to take refuge in the pub, but a good time was had by all.
Ilfracombe Victorian Celebration
Our week long Ilfracombe Victorian Celebration and Steampunk Festival was in June with parades, Bathing Belles, Pearly Queens and even Suffragettes protesting and chaining themselves to railings . This year also saw a Mad Hatters Tea Party and the Steampunks were out in force focusing on the historical elements of Science Fiction.
All Things Morris
2nd and 3rd July the All Things Morris festival hits Ilfracombe with Morris Sides from all over the UK entertaining the crowds and vintage Morris Minor and Morris Travellers on show.
South West Birdman
Our next big event will be the South West Birdman organised by Ilfracombe Round Table on Saturday 30th July. As well as the main flying event, the South West Birdman Competition will also play host to a day long music festival, food stalls, an ale and cider festival, artisan market and children’s entertainment – A great day out for all the family.
Ilfracombe Carnival
Carnival will once again be on Bank holiday Sunday 28th August, with an eclectic mix of floats keeping us entertained for the evening. This spectacular event raises monies for local charities and is a fun night for all the family.
Sea Ilfracombe Maritime Festival
3rd and 4th September sees the return of the fabulous maritime festival Sea Ilfracombe, a whole weekend of fun for all the family, celebrating everything maritime … sea shanties, pirates, mermaids, street food,
A really good weekend – we only have a handful of rooms left for this one so do contact us soon to avoid disappointment.
Ilfracombe Bike Show
Ilfracombe Bike Show will be held on Saturday 10th September with hundreds of motorbikes lining up on the Sea front,
