We have so many events in Ilfracombe, that there may well be something going on when you come to stay.

We are well into the events for 2017 and below you will find highlights of recent events and details of those planned over the summer:

Ilfracombe Art Trail

Ilfracombe is becoming quite a destination for artists and art lovers, with so many new galleries opening up we are starting to rival the likes of St Ives and Padstow.

We had our third Art Trail in May with over 30 different artists opening their studios in their homes and galleries for visitors and you would be amazed at the quality of talented artists with have living in our beautiful town.

This may very well be the largest art trail in North Devon and looks to carry on growing.  Next year’s trail should be 5th and 6th May, so do contact us if you would like to stay that weekend.

Big Lunch

On Sunday 4 June Fore Street hosted Ilfracombe’s annual Big Lunch outside the George & Dragon and Prince of Wales. This is one of the town’s few purely community events and as usual the town turned out in force to sit and make new friends, talk to their neighbours and listen to some tunes by local performers. The weather was kind to us and there was a ton of donated food and nobody went home hungry. The Big Lunch is a national event started some years ago by The Eden Project and designed to bring communities together.  It always a great atmosphere, so if you would like to join us next year do get in touch.

Ilfracombe Victorian Celebration

Our week long Ilfracombe Victorian Celebration and Steampunk Festival  was in June with parades, Bathing Belles, Pearly Queens and even Suffragettes protesting and chaining themselves to railings .  This year also saw a Mad Hatters Tea Party and the Steampunks were out in force focusing on the historial elements of Science Fiction.  The Grand Finale was the spectacular firework display – not to be missed.  Dates for next year are 9th to 17th June.

All Things Morris

In July the All Things Morris festival hit Ilfracombe with Morris Sides from all over the UK entertaining the crowds and vintage Morris Minor and Morris Travellers on show.  Visitors were invited to have a go, which looked great fun.

There was also the North Devon Street Food Awards sponsored by Marsdens Devon Cottages the same weekend, with local street food traders competing for cash prizes and trophies.  We popped along and grazed our way round for lunch … all delicious.  There was also a craft fair courtesy of Ilfracombe’s Artisan Market and Combe Christmas hosted their fab cocktail bar .. so a great weekend had by all.

South West Birdman

Our next big event will be the South West Birdman organised by Ilfracombe Round Table on Saturday 5th August.  As well as the main flying event, the South West Birdman Competition will also play host to a day long music festival, food stalls, an ale and cider festival, artisan market and children’s entertainment – A great day out for all the family.

Sunwest Beer and Music Festival

The Landmark Pavilion will be hosting the Sunwest Beer Festival August Bank Holiday weekend with live music and entertainment by local musicians and an array of local ales and ciders to choose from.

Ilfracombe Carnival

Carnival will once again be on Bank holiday Sunday 27th August, with an eclectic mix of floats keeping us entertained for the evening. This spectacular event raises monies for local charities and is a fun night for all the family.

Mini Madness

Mini madness comes to Ilfracombe Sea front on Bank Holiday Monday once again with 100s of minis completing their Annual Grand Tour

Sea Ilfracombe Maritime Festival

Friday 1st September sees the start of a whole weekend of fun for all the family with the Sea Ilfracombe Festival  celebrating everything maritime.  A really good weekend – we only have a handful of rooms left for this one so do contact us soon to avoid disappointment.

Ilfracombe Bike Show

The Sixth Ilfracombe Bike Show will be held on Saturday 9th September with hundreds of motorbikes lining up on the Sea front, the prizes are hand-crafted glass trophies made by Dartington Crystal and The Collingdale are proud to sponsor one of the  trophies each year
